Hello everyone and welcome to 2018. January 1st is upon us! This year of 2018, it is the motherload of “My Diet Starts Monday”.
Why? Because this year in 2018, it is the perfect trifecta. It is Monday. It is the first of the week, it is the first of the month, and it is the first of the year. You cannot get any better than this! If you can't do it this year, I don't know when you are going to do it.
So, me? I started off just like everybody else. And what I want to do is break down the statistics of where Dr. Arbuckle comes in on January 1st. Breaking down my personal approach of how I approach weight loss.
The first thing I run is a Bio Impedance Analysis, and the statistics are here. Obviously, there are some statistics that are good. But the one that is staring me in the face is my body fat percentage, which puts me in the obese category! Bio Impedance is very helpful in determining the quality of weight loss, because really weight loss is fat loss. We don't want to get dehydrated and lose muscle tissue, but we do want to burn fat. And this helps us calculate that and make sure we are doing it in a healthy way. That's the first thing I do.
The second thing that I do is I measure my blood glucose and my ketone level. To monitor blood glucose and ketones, I use the Precision Extra which many nutritionists and dietitians, and other health care professionals use. My blood glucose came in a little high at 95. My ketone level came in very low at .2, which means I am a sugar burner. Now as I start to lose weight, I'm going to want that number (ketones) to climb to confirm that I am burning fat and using that as fuel.
Aaaaah! And the third thing that I do is take a before picture. One from the front. One from the side. And one from the back. This is all part of the Make a Switch Program that we offer to everyone, but you've got to be a patient.
Now, how long you are on the program, depends on your body composition goals. For me, we are going to see what we can get accomplished in the next 60 days.
Partner with me, track my progress, and I think we will learn something together. And as always, if you have any questions, give the office a call.
It's better to be in alignment than out of alignment, every single time. We will see you at the next post.
